LYRÖ Product Refinement: What’s New in the Updated Production Version

As LYRÖ moves into its updated production version, we want to share the key refinements made after reviewer feedback, production testing, and final assembly validation. Some website images still show an earlier version, and updated product photos will be added soon.

Since the first public presentation of LYRÖ, we have continued to refine the product through reviewer feedback, production testing, and final assembly validation.

LYRÖ’s core direction has not changed: an open-back tunable headphone built around natural sound, breathable comfort, physical sound adjustment, and modular flexibility. What has changed is the level of finish, structural detail, and long-term usability.

The latest production version includes a series of refinements across the housing, arms, headband, hinge connection, ear pad structure, ear cup covering, silicone finish, and neckband. These updates are not about changing what LYRÖ is. They are about making the final product feel more complete, more stable, and more refined in daily use.

Some product images currently shown on our website still display an earlier LYRÖ version. We will continue updating the website with new production photos as soon as they are ready.

1. More refined aluminum housing

The updated version uses a die-cast and CNC aluminum housing made with a precision manufacturing approach similar to that used in premium smartphone housings.

Compared with the previous version, the updated housing has a cleaner appearance, tighter details, and a more refined surface finish. The goal was to make LYRÖ feel more precise and more complete in hand, without changing its overall design language.

2. Improved arm surface treatment

We refined the CNC finishing and coating process on the arms to create a finer surface texture.

Compared with the previous version, the aluminum alloy surface also showed better stability and durability in aging tests. This is especially important for a product that is designed to be folded, adjusted, carried, and used frequently.

3. Upgraded headband finish

The headband finish has also been improved.

For the black headband, we now use hand polishing, matte finishing, and vacuum black titanium plating to create a finer and more durable texture.

The silver version continues to retain its hand-polished texture, followed by vacuum silver titanium plating. These refinements help the headband feel more consistent with the rest of LYRÖ’s metal structure and overall finish.

4. Stronger and cleaner hinge connection

The hinge connection has been upgraded from CNC screws to textured stainless-steel alloy rivets.

This change gives the hinge area a cleaner appearance while improving long-term durability. Because LYRÖ is designed to fold and move between different wearing and carrying scenarios, we wanted this part of the structure to feel stronger and more stable over time.

5. Improved ear pad structure

We developed a new molded connection structure for the small ear pads, using the same stable quick-release mechanism as the larger over-ear pads.

Compared with the previous installation method, the updated structure is simpler to handle and makes ear pad installation more straightforward. This also supports LYRÖ’s modular design direction, making the ear pad system easier to use and more consistent.

As part of this refinement, the new molded connection structure required additional production preparation time, but we believe the improvement is important for long-term usability.

6. Refined ear cup covering

We reworked the ear cup mold and adjusted the CNC data of the aluminum shell, making the covering smoother and better at concealing the seam than before.

This is a small detail, but it has a noticeable effect on the overall appearance and finish of the product. Because this part still relies heavily on manual assembly, it required additional adjustment and care during production.

7. Improved headband silicone

The food-grade silicone on the headband has been changed from glossy solid black to a matte translucent black finish.

This gives the headband a softer and more refined visual character, while better matching the updated finish of the overall product.

8. Improved neckband structure

The neckband structure has also been updated. The new version is easier to install and remove than before, with slightly improved support.

This refinement makes the optional neckband mode more practical for everyday portable use, while keeping LYRÖ’s modular structure simple and flexible.

Why these refinements matter

Many of these changes may look small individually, but together they affect how LYRÖ feels in real use.

They improve the way the product is assembled, handled, worn, adjusted, and maintained over time. They also help bring the final production version closer to the product experience we originally wanted to deliver: a headphone that feels open, comfortable, precise, and easy to live with every day.

We are grateful for the feedback from reviewers, early listeners, and backers. Their comments helped us look more closely at details that are easy to overlook, but important in long-term use.
