LYRÖ MX Over-Ear Module

A Complete Acoustic System

LYRÖ MX was developed as one complete system. Its wearing geometry, airflow, structural coupling, materials, and tuning work together to create a genuinely different experience from the original LYRÖ on-ear configuration.

It keeps the LYRÖ transducer platform, then opens the structure around the ear for full-size scale, greater space, and a more revealing overall character.

Comfort That Truly Feels Open

MX does not use a conventional enclosing ear cup. A front cushion and an air-supported rear contact point stabilize each side while leaving the area around the ear far more open to air.

At only 166 g complete, it remains exceptionally light for a full-size headphone. Ventilated silicone, breathable contact materials, and adjustable positioning help reduce unnecessary heat and pressure during longer sessions.

Healthy Acoustics

Healthy Acoustics means designing sound quality and long-session comfort together: low distortion, natural balance, low physical mass, breathable contact, and no unnecessary enclosure.

LYRÖ MX advances that idea through a structure that remains open around the ear and a tuning method that considers both measured air pressure and how low frequencies are actually perceived when worn.

Sound Character

LYRÖ MX is not intended to make the original LYRÖ simply sound bigger or bassier. It creates a different presentation: more spacious, more revealing, and slightly cooler in overall balance, with clean mids and a clearer sense of scale.

Its adjustable position lets the listener balance fullness and openness according to individual anatomy and preference. Small changes in distance and angle can meaningfully affect bass, upper-frequency response, and spatial presentation.

Low-Frequency Principle

Measured Through Air. Completed Through Structure.
The frequency-response graph measures air-conducted sound pressure at the ear. It does not capture the entire low-frequency experience of LYRÖ MX.
MX intentionally does not force its air-conducted response to reproduce the full Harman bass shelf. Part of the low-frequency energy is mechanically coupled through the supporting structure and contact surfaces, adding tactile and bone-conducted perception alongside the sound travelling through air.
If the air-conducted curve alone were raised to the full target, the combined bass could become excessive in real listening. The final balance therefore comes from “air conduction and controlled structure-borne vibration working together”.

Manufacturing And Materials

LYRÖ MX uses additive manufacturing because its low-mass structure and acoustic geometry would be difficult to achieve through conventional molding.

Craftsmanship

  • Each LYRÖ MX module is individually assembled and inspected by hand.
  • Due to the use of additive manufacturing, hand assembly, and natural silk materials, slight variations in surface texture, layer patterns, silk weave direction, or assembly details may occur between units.
  • These variations are normal characteristics of the manufacturing process and do not affect performance, durability, or sound quality.

Usage Guidelines

  • Designed primarily for indoor listening environments.
  • Avoid drops, strong impacts, excessive moisture, and prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Do not use during intense exercise, heavy perspiration, or in rainy conditions.
  • Install and remove modules according to the official instructions.
  • Ensure both modules are securely locked before use.
  • Do not disassemble, modify, or alter the structural components.

Cleaning & Care

  • Clean with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
  • For stains, use a soft cloth slightly dampened with clean water.
  • Do not use alcohol, solvents, or chemical cleaners.
  • Do not soak, machine wash, or expose to high temperatures.
  • Allow the product to air-dry completely if it becomes wet.
  • 1 pair of LYRÖ MX Over-ear Ear Pads (Left & Right)
  • Note: LYRÖ headphone body is not included.
  • Is MX tuned to match the Harman bass curve?

Harman is an important reference, but MX does not copy the full bass shelf through air conduction alone. Its final perceived balance combines air-conducted sound with tactile and structure-borne contribution.

  • Why do Near and Far sound different?

Distance and angle change the air-conducted response, while the support contact also affects the structural contribution. Near generally sounds fuller; Far sounds lighter and more open.

  • Does SCS still work with MX?

Yes. The physical SCS controls remain active, allowing direct adjustment of low-frequency balance without an app.

  • Which USB-C mode should I use?

Use "Flat Mode" with the ZAYLLI USB-C Tri-Mode Dual-Mic Cable. It preserves the intended MX tuning without additional digital EQ.

  • Is MX suitable for travel or sports?

MX prioritizes very low weight, openness, and acoustic performance. It is intended mainly for indoor listening and should be protected from compression and impact during transport.

  • Why does each set of LYRÖ MX look slightly different?

LYRÖ MX is produced using industrial additive manufacturing, natural textile materials, and hand assembly. Slight differences in surface texture, visible layer patterns, silk weave direction, or assembly details are normal and do not affect performance or sound quality.

  • Can I clean LYRÖ MX with alcohol?

No. Alcohol and other organic solvents may damage the silk surface, adhesives, or structural materials. Use a dry soft cloth, or a soft cloth lightly dampened with clean water.

  • What should I do if LYRÖ MX gets wet?

Stop using it and leave it to air-dry in a cool, well-ventilated place until completely dry. Do not use a hair dryer, heater, or direct sunlight to speed up drying.

  • Can the silk contact surface be removed and washed?

We do not recommend removing it. Disassembly may damage the fabric or internal structure. Clean the surface gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

  • Is LYRÖ MX suitable for travel or exercise?

LYRÖ MX is designed primarily for indoor listening and emphasizes openness, low weight, and acoustic performance. Avoid using it during intense exercise, in heavy rain, or in situations where it may be crushed or struck.

  • Can I still use the LYRÖ SCS adjustment with MX?

Yes. The physical SCS control remains fully functional and can be used to adjust the low-frequency balance without an app.
