Why LYRÖ’s Tuning Matters

Open-Back Tunable Design

Designed to sound more natural and feel less closed in, LYRÖ combines an open-back structure with direct physical tuning for a more spacious, breathable, and flexible listening experience.

Richer Sub-Bass Foundation

At 30 Hz, LYRÖ is tuned to sit about +9 dB closer to the target, giving the low end more depth and presence while keeping the overall balance clear.

Lower Distortion, Cleaner Sound

Measured at 500 Hz / 1 mW, LYRÖ stays below 0.05% THD, helping music sound cleaner, purer, and more natural over time.

Sharper Spatial Focus

A slight reduction around 2 kHz and a lift near 3.5 kHz help LYRÖ better align with the diffuse-field reference, improving spatial precision and upper-frequency clarity.

Controlled Presence Region

A small reduction around 6 kHz helps control vocal sibilance and harshness, keeping detail clear without making the sound feel sharp or tiring.

Air and Openness

At around 8.5 kHz, the curve moves closer to the diffuse-field reference, adding more air, width, and texture without losing overall balance.

I love the Lyro

These headphones are great. They feel very well made for how small and light they are, and the sound quality they deliver completely outclasses my similar headphones (KSC75, Old Fashioned). I doubt you can find any other on-ears that sound this good at any price.

The tuning dial system works well, I personally like the sound somewhere between the "DF" tuning and half-way.

Comfort is good but not quite perfect, I find the ear pads to be a little small in diameter for me, causing them to shift off my ears easier than my Old Fashioned (which uses larger Yaxi-style pads that stay in place nicely). Clamping pressure was also a bit high for me, solved by over-stretching the headband a little.

I'd like to see Zaylli offer generic pad mounting rings in a few sizes, so we can experiment with a variety of different pads. Zaylli official pads in a few more sizes/styles would be great too. Of course, the sound will be altered as a result of any pad changes, and larger pads would impact portability, but the tradeoff could be worth it.

Thankfully the MX module (which I found secondhand) has resolved my small gripes regarding comfort, while also improving (to my ears) the already great sound. The Lyro MX sounds stunningly good, one of the best over-ears I've heard.

My only complaint with the MX is that the adjustable spacing bracket needs to be heavily tightened to not drift, but once it's set up, I can easily wear it for hours with zero discomfort.

If you're interested in the Lyro as more than a portable headphone with good sound (the compact carry case makes it great for travel), I highly recommend getting the MX module too.

Despite a few shortcomings, I love the Lyro. It's very innovative, and impressive for a new company's first product. I'm looking forward to seeing what Zaylli has to offer in the future.

After decades of headphones, this has ended the search!

Unbelievable when paired with a good dac/amp and EQ'd the way I like these are 10/10! I wouldn't doubt that these will rival cans over $2000 and I bet I would personally prefer these over those. The bass when I EQ rattles my head yet stays completely clean on all layers, I can still hear intricacies in the music! The bass is just so addicting. These can get extremely loud too, my little Fiio KA15 amp dac is powering them through the 4.4mm cable I purchased separately on here, my goodness these at 65% volume on my phone are just insane loud and crystal clear with amazing dynamics. The comfort is everything here but most importantly I grew tired of all the plastic head bands that would break on me within months of usage such as others I've owned, so I finally spent a little more and got these! I'm so glad I did because in that same decision I got the best headphones I've ever heard to date. Get yourself a quality portable dac/amp that has a 4.4mm cable input, EQ to your taste or not, plug these in and enjoy! The search hunt for is over, and these are a joy to listen to. Thank you Zaylli! Might need to pick up an extra black pair soon too, just to own two of these in both options.

There has been absolutely nothing that could replace my 22+ year old Sennheiser PX100s on the market maybe aside from Koss's offerings which don't feel the same to me. I made a blind purchase with LYRÖs and I'm very pleasantly surprised with the portability and sound quality.
For comfort the only gripe I had is with the ribbed silicone headband, it's not comfortable on a bald head. 3d printed a flat replacement so all is good. A flat headband might be one thing you could think about offering as an alternative.
Long term durability is yet to be seen but I can forgive if something goes wrong because AFAIK this is your first attempt as a company. On ear, wired, open backed headphones are a very niche market, I have my fingers crossed you succeed financially and keep releasing updates and new products. Thank you for making this happen!

Thank you so much for taking a chance on LYRÖ and for sharing such thoughtful feedback.💗

It really means a lot to hear that LYRÖ could be a worthy replacement for your PX100s. Your idea of offering a flat headband is also a great one, and we’ll definitely share it with our product team.

Thank you again for your support and encouragement — we truly appreciate it!

A truly outstanding on-ear headphone!

The Lyro is a superbly-constructed on-ear phone with very lifelike timbre and tonality. It's low distortion is apparent by lack of audio fatigue even after hours of continuous use. The analog adjustable frequency response control is a very workable means of adjusting the response curve to ones personal preference. Comfort is outstanding. A well-crafted example of great audio engineering!

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review. It really means a lot to us.💗

We’re especially happy to hear that the natural sound, low distortion, adjustable tuning, and comfort all came through in your experience. Making LYRÖ enjoyable for long listening sessions was a big part of what we wanted to achieve, so reading this was incredibly rewarding for our team.

Thank you again for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, and for supporting what we’re building.

Excellent wear and sound! Highly recommend these to anyone

Excellent wear and sound! Highly recommend these to anyone. The tuning dials let me control a recording to my desired sound. EDM dials set for full bass. Rock for example I lesson it and add more stage then pidcast I like full diffused as podcasters do not master their voices like our music.

Thank you so much for the kind words and recommendation!

My zailli experience

Honestly I like these headphones. At first it took a bit to get used to as I'm used to over ear headphones but as I wore them more and more I slowly got used to how they felt. I like how they sound. These are my first open back headphones and yeah they sound good. It's definitely different from what I'm used to but it's kind of fun adjusting to these new headphones. I'm not an audiofile but these do seem to sound better than my cheaper headphones I have. I think these will be my main headphones for a while until I find something else that peaks my interest.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

We’re really happy to hear that LYRÖ has grown on you and that you’re enjoying the open-back sound. Hope LYRÖ continues to be a fun and enjoyable daily headphone for you!

First of all, we are truly sorry about this.

The reason we originally chose plastic for the neckband was because plastic offers good dimensional stability, while also allowing the neckband to remain lightweight, foldable, easy to carry, and still provide a certain amount of clamping force.

During our internal testing, the durability was within our expectations. However, we did not expect breakage to occur in real use, and we have now seen that this is not an isolated case.

Because of this, we have already removed the neckband from sale. Our team is currently developing an improved version. The neckband is a very important part of the LYRÖ system, so we are taking this issue very seriously and are working to improve it properly.

Regarding your neckband, we will contact you privately to discuss the solution.

We are truly sorry for what happened, and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Got mine on the kickstarter

Got mine on the kickstarter. Has a beautiful, crystaline sound, with thumpy bass. I really love them. The only minus is that some female vocals can get a bit shouty. Mariah Carey sounds great, though i find myself dialling the volume down when listening to the female singer of Bomba Estereo. But I have my lovely koss porta pro wireless for them. Use them for bike commuting, because thay are wonderfully transparent, and even if I have music blaring, I'm not deaf to audio cues like approaching engines or car tyre rumble. Use it with a timeear bt9, great combo, get 2 full workdays and commutes back and forth before i have to recharge

Thank you so much for sharing this! Really appreciate your support from Kickstarter, and hope LYRÖ keeps bringing you great music on the go!

Not perfect but still very, very good

The comfort is extremely good for an on ear, i used to avoid on ears and only get over ears or iems, but these ones feel fantastic

The sound quality is really good as well, both in its least bass mode and most bass mode, least is really clean, while most does not bloat or bleed into the mids despite a very nice bass boost, im not bass head but i really like them at maximum bass mode, however the upper mids can be a tad much for some (i let someone try them) but for me they sound great, i do with the treble extension was a little better/smoother, but overall sounds really good

The build is quite solid as well, though there is some slight "build imbalance" where, when folding, the left side has 0 tension and can move freely while the right side will stay folded if held, its hard to explain and if there was a video option id show, but its also not a big deal

Some down sides though which come with every single product ever, nothing is perfect, though these are mostly nit picks so take them as you will

The case has a very loud and not smooth zipper, and while i like how small it is, sometimes getting them in is a little weird and makes me worry if the connections are having pressure put on them with how it folds

Speaking of how it folds, i feel its a little awkward them in towards each other where you have to pull them apart to stick them in is not super conventional, but again, its a nitpick.

Last nitpick, the stock cable is very generic and kind of cheap feeling, but id rather have the replaceable cable feel cheap than the headphone itself

really wish i knew about these on kickstarter when it was going because overall, i really, really like these headphones, and this is coming from someone who owns the hd600, thieaudio cypher, and r70x

I'm looking forward to the graphs for the Lyro MX and how it changes the sound compared to stock pads

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and honest review. We truly appreciate it.

We're sorry to hear about the slight imbalance you noticed when folding the headphones. During production, we carefully adjust and match the folding mechanism, but because there are many finishing processes involved—and the Eclipse Noir version also goes through a sandblasting process before coating—there can occasionally be a small difference in tension during the initial period of use.

If you'd like, you can carefully tighten the looser side slightly with a flat-head screwdriver. We recommend making small adjustments and avoiding repeated tightening and loosening to prevent scratching the titanium-coated finish. That said, the spring mechanisms and screws are made from high-quality stainless steel, so even if the coating is marked, it is only a cosmetic issue and will not affect durability.

Regarding the carrying case, we sincerely apologize. In our pursuit of maximum portability, we sacrificed a bit of convenience. We have received similar feedback from other users, and we are considering a slightly larger case in the future that will be easier to use while still remaining compact.

As for the cable, while the stock cable has a relatively small diameter and simple appearance, its internal specification is actually quite high. It uses the same durable outer jacket as our other cables, and internally features a silver-plated OCC copper conductor with additional shielding. While it may not look flashy, it was designed to provide reliable long-term performance.

Thank you again for your support. Feedback like yours helps us continue improving future products.

We’re also excited to share more information about LYRÖ MX soon, including measurements and how it changes the listening experience compared to the stock ear pads.
